The term “Mechatronics” was popular maybe 10 years ago. I gave a speech at the Robot show in Detroit and the MCA was introduced by the Head of Robotics at Ford as the first of the real Mechatronics actuators. It seems that it pretty much still is. So that will be a theme at our booth at AUTOMATE on March 23 in Chicago. We are sandwiched between Festo and SMC. So 20th century companies vs SMAC and its 21st century technology.nnrn

Our booth is divided up into 4 sections:nnrn
nn1. Packagingnnrnnnnn
- rnnnnn
- Ejection using soft land and programmable force and speed.
nnnnrn
nnnnrnnnnn
- rnnnnn
- Dispensing – very high cycle rates with a nifty magnetic counterbalance
nnnnrn
nnnnrnnnnn
- rnnnnn
- Capping – with verification of height and torque
nnnnrn
nnnnrnnnnn
- rnnnnn
- Slotting /punching. Very high cycle rate and very repeatable cycle rate.

nnnnrnnnrnnnnnrnnnrnnn2. Electronic Manufacturingnnrnnnnn
- rnnnnn
- LCA, with Soft-Land invented by SMAC, programmable force, data feedback for QC, very high cycle rates
nnnnrn
nnnnrnnnnn
- rnnnnn
- LCR, invented by SMAC, Same tech as the LA with independent Linear and Rotary functions. Data feed back as well.

nnnnrnnnnn
- rnnnnn
- SLA – Very compact very precise slides for scanning.

- rnnnnn
- The Finger
nnnnrn
nnnnrnnnnn
- rnnnnn
- Target distance feedback sensors – lasers in this case
nnnnrn
nnnnrnnnnn
- rnnnnn
- Closed loop force control – to less than 1 gram.

Should be an interesting show. Note that many patents cover the above technology.
